SCOPE OF POSITION
The Sterile Supply Technician II functions as an integral member of the Central Sterile Supply team in assuring the safe and accurate supply of operative instrumentation to the health care team members within the Department of Perioperative Services and other departments requiring instrument processing.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sterile Supply Technician II receives, inspects, sorts, decontaminates, re-builds sets, wraps instruments, sterilizes, and delivers surgical instrumentation for operative and invasive procedures for the Department of Perioperative Services and other departments requiring sterile instrument processing. This person is responsible for the decontamination of surgical instruments, utensils and other surgical items, preparation amp; packing, processing sterile stores amp; other miscellaneous duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
For Hire:
High school graduate or G.E.D. Previous experience in a relevant care setting and graduation from an approved instrument processing training program is preferred. On-going:
Maintains knowledge related to sterile processing issues, quality improvement, cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols. Demonstrates competence in essential job functions. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and to read and write simple sentences; 1 course or 3 months experience in maintenance of surgical instruments and 1 course or 3 months experience in sterilizing techniques;
