Job Summary
The Associate Director of Security is part of the Operations Leadership Team and reports to the Chief Operating and Financial Officer. The Associate Director of Security must possess detailed knowledge of current security issues within an independent school setting. This role is responsible for developing, refining and updating the safety and security policies of the school in areas related to crisis management, campus safety and risk management, and security operations. The Associate Director of Security must also be well versed in using technology as a security and risk management tool. Key Responsibilities
The following are key responsibilities, including but not limited to: Building relationships with campus leaders to plan for and manage safety and security matters, including patrols of school buildings and grounds. Maintaining a visible and welcoming presence during student arrival, dismissal, events, and transitions. Coordinating this work with the Director of Community Outreach and administrators who are managing events. Responding to alarms, disturbances, and other security-related incidents, taking appropriate action and notifying relevant personnel during and outside of school hours. Managing the CrisisGo alert system, including training school employees, creating manuals and guides, and ensuring that the data captured within the system is operating properly. Leading the crisis management program across the campus locations. Collaborating with local emergency responders and public safety officials to coordinate drills, including fire drills, and ensure regulatory compliance. Participating in risk assessments, incident reviews, and recommending improvements to campus infrastructure and operations. Monitoring compliance with school safety policies and contributing to the policy updates as needed. Leveraging functionality within the Security Help Desk work order system and Veracross, as well as the school\'s employee and student information system, to manage the various functions of this position. Managing security technology, including access controls, alarm systems, communication devices, and security cameras. Administering card key access and key access systems. Organizing, planning, and executing projects related to Safety and Security. Administrative tasks, such as managing budgets, maintaining security logs, incident reports, and other records. Qualifications
Ten or more years of security, law enforcement, or related experience. Bachelor\'s degree or higher in Security, Criminal Justice or Emergency Management. Valid Massachusetts driver\'s license. First Aid and CPR certification. Proficiency with computers and working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Google applications; ability to learn and use access software used by BB&N.
