Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/07/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse - PCU Facility: Johnson City Medical Center Location: 400 N State of Franklin Rd, Johnson City, TN 37604-6094 Start Date: September 7, 2025 (Firm) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM) Schedule: Every other weekend required; No call required Unit: 608000-1016256 | JCMC 52-53 Position Overview: Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on night shift with a patient ratio of 1:5. Floating to other units (MS) is required. First-time travelers accepted with minimum 2 years of nursing experience. Travelers must live outside a 100-mile radius of the facility. Certifications Required: Active State or Compact RN License BLS (AHA) ACLS (Preferred) Experience Required: Minimum 2 years nursing experience, preferably in PCU or telemetry Epic charting experience preferred Teaching hospital experience and Trauma Level I experience preferred Skills & Competencies: IV therapy and phlebotomy Blood product administration Central line and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management Starting IVs Care in Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Telemetry units Respiratory care including ventilated patients, chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management Neurological/psych care: craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, TBI GI care including feeding tube management Medication management including heparin, cardiac drips (no titration), vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips Cardiac monitoring: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of rapid response teams Isolation precautions and wound care Endocrine: IV insulin protocols Orthopedics: ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters Cardiovascular: post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath Renal: pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure Plastics: skin grafts, surgical drains Staffing & Scheduling: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM) Every other weekend required Floating to other units required (floated to MS at 1:7 ratios) No call required Facility Details: Type: Teaching Hospital Total Beds: 33 Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics Daily Census: 33 Additional Unit Information: Interdisciplinary support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, Unit Secretary About HonorVet Technologies HonorVet Technologies: Pioneering Purpose, Empowering Heroes Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) , proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs .
