Storage Engineer (TS/SCI required)

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to support an IC customer/contract inSpringfield, VA. This position requires one to design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools.Security requirements are a TS/SCI clearance andeligibility to obtain a CI polygraph. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and other related technologies Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents Consistently demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes Oversee the Installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures Oversees the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are collected and regularly reviewed Required Skills and Experience: Hands on engineering experience withNetAppand other storage technologies and concepts Experience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementations Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies Senior level experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environment Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc. Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience 5+ years IT experience Benefits and Perks Compensation Industry competitive salary well above market average 401K plan with 4% company match, immediately fully vested Referral bonuses up to $5,000 Cigna Medical plan for employee + family Vision and Dental plan for employee + family Short Term Disability for employee Long Term Disability for employee Life Insurance for employee Flexible Paid Time Off Policy 180 hours (minimum)per year of PTO with additional time at manager discretion 10+ Company Holidays per year 6 weeks paid maternity and paternity leave Flexible work environment to accommodate commuting, family and personal schedules Company sponsored training and certifications Company paid training and conference attendance and travel expenses
