Operative EP Cardiology PA opening - Boston, MA Details:
- FT, permanent
- Plays an active role in all phases of pre- and post-procedural care for patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures.
- Serves as first or second assist in the Electrophysiology Labs during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Collaborates closely with electrophysiology fellows and functions under the supervision of the Attending Interventional Electrophysiologist to coordinate and deliver patient care.
- Manages patients in collaboration with the Attending Electrophysiologist in the ambulatory Electrophysiology (EP) Clinic.
- Participates in inpatient rounding and consultation for patients with electrophysiologic conditions.
- Performs internal loop recorder implants and explants. Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs and documents preoperative evaluation (history and physical examination). Orders and interprets diagnostic tests. Examines and evaluates post-procedural patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Performs complex wound care. Writes orders for medications and treatments.
- Performs invasive procedures acting in an assistant role to include: Permanent Pace Maker placement, Pace Maker generator change out, ICD implants, Ablation procedures, Implantable loop recorders, and watchman procedures. Interrogates and programs cardiac implantable devices. Participates in patient rounds, case conferences and consultation. Maintains and follows patient care protocols.
- Works in collaboration with staff proceduralist and EP fellows in education the patients and their families in medical care. Works with staff in providing patient care in the following locations: Cardiology units, PACU, and outpatient clinics
- Dictates discharge summaries. Diagnoses and prescribes treatments/medications of controlled substances for Schedule II through VI. Reviews history and physicals for surgery.
- Serves as a first or second assist in Electrophysiology Lab responsible for opening and closing wounds.
- Updates clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education, and review of literature. Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree required.
- License Nurse Practitioner License required., or Registration Physician Assistant License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required., and Certificate 2 Advanced Cardiac Life Support required.
- 1-3 years related work experience required.
- Experience working with highly acute patients on an electrophysiology service
- 1-3 years related experience required and/or completion of a PA surgical residency program.
- Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
