Position Title: Geriatric Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)
Shift: Rotating Days/Evenings/Nights | Every Other Weekend | 36 Hours/Week
Unit: Epstein 3 Geriatric Psych Unit
Location: Massachusetts
Certifications Required:
Valid Massachusetts RN License
AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
Certification in De-escalation (AVADE training offered on-site)
???? Unit Overview:
Epstein 3 is a Geriatric Psychiatric Inpatient Unit specializing in the treatment of older adults with complex psychiatric and co-occurring medical needs. The unit supports patients dealing with:
Depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation
Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder
Dual diagnosis (mental health and substance use)
Medically acute conditions such as diabetes, IV therapy, wound care, and CPAP management
??????? Required Experience & Skills:
Minimum 2 years of inpatient adult psychiatric nursing experience
Proficient with psychotropic medications and management of side effects
Charge nurse experience or readiness to assume that role
Admission & discharge processes and documentation
Experience with EPIC EMR and Omni Cell medication dispensing
Competence in:
IV pump operation
Diabetic patient care
???? Patient & Staffing Information:
Patient Population: Geriatric adults with mental health and/or medical comorbidities
RN-to-Patient Ratio: 1:7 or 1:8
???? Schedule & Shift Details:
Shift rotation required for Day/Eve/Night schedule:
7:00 AM 7:00 PM
11:00 AM 11:00 PM
7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Night Shift positions are fixed (no rotation)
Every other weekend commitment required
Floating may be required to similar psych units
