Job Summary/Purpose

The Supervisor, Procurement utilizes extensive supply chain, contracting knowledge and supervisory experience to lead a professional team of Procurement Specialists supporting Entergy's Power Generation business unit across multiple sites.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

The Procurement Supervisor utilizes extensive supply chain, contracting knowledge and supervisory experience to lead a professional team of Procurement Specialists who deliver primarily upon the service demands of the business, and from time to time meet the more complex material demands. This team is responsible for differing levels of service complexities, with variable scopes of work, across multiple Power Generation plants. The role is responsible for supervising a diverse team with varying degrees of knowledge, skills, and abilities and experiences in contracting. The team is responsible for assessing service requests, determining the appropriate sourcing channel, identifying and executing the contractual method of delivery, development and coordination of all contractual requirements, negotiation of the best commercial terms, and providing contract administration throughout the life of the contract. This role guides and executes on the efforts to develop, lead, and negotiate complex enterprise contracting strategies, while ensuring relevant market conditions are integrated. The supervisor operates autonomously, in a leadership capacity, and provides guidance and coaching to the team relative to technical and professional skills. This role also serves as the primary supply chain lead for at least one Power Generation site location, and as such will execute contracts, purchase orders, warranties and other purchase-to-pay processes. This role will serve to mentor individual team members and identify developmental opportunities to enable and assist team members with their career development. The supervisor provides guidance in setting the standards and expectations for SC contracting, liaising with other departments within SC to ensure consistency across the function. This position will interact with internal business units such as Taxation, Finance, Risk Management, Human Resources, Legal, and external suppliers. Within Supply Chain this role will commonly interact with Procurement Operations, Category Management, Capital Projects & Decommissioning, and Warehousing and Inventory Management.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Legal, or other related discipline

Minimum experience required of the position

5+ years of combined supplier contracting, vendor management, or other related supply chain experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Technical

  • Deep understanding of Entergy's business model and key interfaces across the business and SC;
  • Masterful application of plan, strategize, source and perform;
  • Mastery in leading the development of complex contract strategies;
  • Proficient at leading others to create negotiation strategies and to support or lead negotiations;
  • Deep knowledge in leading through pre-/post-award contract management processes;
  • Deep understanding of relevant business law and commercial terms and conditions;
  • Extensive knowledge of business and SC operations within Entergy; including how Entergy buys and pays (HEBAP); experience and knowledge of supply chain systems and processes;
  • Deep technical skills in contract management processes, including continuous improvement and the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners/functions;
  • Proficient in supplier performance/relationship management strategies and processes.

Professional

  • Expertise to lead on the application of project management principles to ensure systematic and thorough completion of assignments, identifying critical pathways and risks to delivery;
  • Mastery in the application of commercial skills and financial acumen to contracts, with the inclusion of key business drivers and impact to Entergy on outcomes;
  • Capability to lead on the development of data/information analyses to assist the business in decision making;
  • Ability to communicate autonomously with all stakeholders, delivering key messages concisely, supported by relevant information; apply influencing skills to develop best outcomes;
  • Proficient at building extensive relationships and effective networks with all stakeholders;
  • Deep practice in change management as it pertains to post-award contract management;
  • Deep experience and knowledge to effectively manage the costs of the business.

Leadership

  • Strong ability strategize and coordinate SC efforts, maintaining strong communication and collaboration between the SC towers;
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate up, down, and across the organization, leading staff, teams, and efforts within SC;
  • Ability to lead others through ambiguity, providing clear direction;
  • Extensive knowledge of change management and continuous improvement methods, and the application to daily activities to drive performance improvement;
  • Ability to provided technical and professional coaching/mentoring to the Central Contracts Group individual contributors;
  • Ability to leverage Supply Chain's Talent Management Strategy to assure the right Supply Chain talent is recruited, developed, deployed, and retained in line with key business priorities;
  • Ability to identify areas of diversity within the team and focus to fully utilize the strengths of the individuals to collectively meet and exceed goals and objectives.
