Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment initiative. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The approval amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after reviewing the application. Qualifications To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or licensing requirements applicants may be tentatively referred and selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:

U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy. Degree: Doctor of medicine or equivalent from an accredited school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of graduation. License: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S., its territories, or the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program leading to eligibility for board certification, approved by the VA. This includes ACGME or AOA accredited residencies or equivalent non-US residencies with verified practice in the U.S. Residents enrolled in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and work on an intermittent or fee basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners. English Proficiency: Must demonstrate proficiency in spoken and written English. Board Certification: Must be board certified or eligible. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform all position activities without restrictions, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing stairs. Duties

This role is within the VA - VHA - Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network - Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System - Primary Care Service Line. The primary responsibility is serving as a Primary Care Physician, ensuring quality, timeliness, customer satisfaction, and compliance with accreditation standards. The physician will lead a multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive assessments, managing acute and chronic conditions, and coordinating care with other services. Key responsibilities include patient assessment, diagnosis, emergency response, referrals, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, documentation, and adherence to performance standards.
