With the capability to offer admitted and surplus lines insurance products in [51] states and jurisdictions, Emerald Bay Risk Solutions partners with program administrators and managing general agents to offer strategic insurance solutions. This leadership role will be accountable for the underwriting, management and performance of all new and renewal programs. You have deep industry experience and have broad underwriting expertise across personal and commercial lines. You will play a key role in business development, and you have a wide set of industry contacts that you can leverage to solicit new program opportunities. You will play a strategic role in setting overall guardrails for the company and will partner with the executive team on setting guardrails on exposure and risk appetite. You will build your underwriting team and will implement the strategy, building and continually optimizing the portfolio for maximum profitability. You will act as Emerald Bay Risk Solutions’ primary interface and partner to the programs/MGAs, Claims TPAs, reinsurers and brokers. You and your team will be responsible for setting annual program goals which will include strategies and tactics for profit, growth, expense management, and allocation of catastrophe capacity. Responsibilities
Program Management and Underwriting - Responsibilities to Be Executed with Your Team Act as the leader and main interface with all programs, reinsurers, claims TPA’s and brokers Collaboratively work with each program to maximize profitability by program and across the portfolio of programs Responsible for developing an annual calendar for all interactions with the MGA/Claims TPA/Reinsurers and Brokers. The calendar will include in-person visits, program audits, renewal dates, broker meetings etc. Conduct regular in-person visits to each program Accountable for overall P&L for all programs, including monitoring of loss development and claims activity. Work with the team to implement action steps to improve underwriting results of programs as necessary Responsible for setting annual growth and profit plans for the program(s) Working with the Head of Ceded Re, accountable for individual program(s) reinsurance renewal strategy and working with program brokers and MGAs to place reinsurance specific to the program. Working with appropriate support/service teams, accountable to ensure all programs follow contractual terms and all regulatory compliance requirements Represent Emerald Bay Risk Solutions at industry conferences/events; marketing and reinsurer visits Ensure proper termination and run-off processes for discontinued programs Requirements A minimum of 15 years of Property and Casualty insurance experience in a leadership role in underwriting and/or product Experience across personal and commercial lines as well as admitted and E&S business Bachelor’s Degree required; Applied Math, Economics, Finance or Risk Management desired Deep knowledge of MGA/Program business and program experience at an insurance or program carrier Catastrophe modeling analytics experience. You will not be required to run the models, but a strong understanding of the output and implications will be valuable 10+ years of leadership experience Beneficial
Masters in Finance, Economics, or Risk Management preferred Work on the creation of new and emerging products for rapid entry into new markets. A natural inclination to work within a culture that is fast-paced and dynamic. Experience in managing compliance for programs, including rates, form, and filings Seniority level
