Director of Human Resources The Director of Human Resources will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our hospital, clinics, urgent care centers, and other services. This position involves strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of HR initiatives, providing essential guidance to facility leadership in areas such as coaching, counseling, performance appraisals, and regulatory compliance. You will be instrumental in building a world-class team by recruiting and retaining top talent and fostering an award-winning culture.
Key Responsibilities
Provides HR leadership, direction, and technical expertise in HR strategy, talent acquisition, employee engagement, retention, organizational change, employee relations, regulatory compliance, and compensation.
Oversees and participates in the delivery of HR services to align Facility HR with business needs; conducts needs assessments to align corporate HR priorities with hospital strategy and market imperatives.
Engages with the executive and leadership teams to execute strategic priorities; coaches and provides feedback to direct reports; fosters continuous learning through mentoring, education, and knowledge sharing; educates leaders and employees on HR processes and legal requirements.
Develops talent management and engagement strategies; oversees internal and external recruitment to attract and retain quality applicants; regularly reviews HR metrics and adjusts strategies as needed.
Develops and updates established HR policies, goals, objectives, and performance improvements.
Administers and manages the Employee Engagement Survey and action planning; partners with leadership to meet goals and develop department action plans.
Reviews corrective actions and provides recommendations on performance management; investigates compliance incidents as assigned.
Partners with labor relations and corporate legal on external complaints (EEOC, Civil Rights, OSHA, NLRB); acts as a first responder for labor organizing attempts.
Manages Wage Administration Program and collaborates with market facilities on pay changes and market reviews.
Oversees the employee performance evaluation and merit processes to ensure consistency and equity.
Collaborates with the Division Director, Human Resources to ensure execution and oversight of division HR strategy, policy, and processes.

Qualifications Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field from a fully accredited college/university is required.
Master’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field from a fully accredited college/university is highly preferred.
License / Certification:
Professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or CHHR) is highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of professional HR experience required; 5 years of progressively responsible HR leadership experience in an HR executive role.
Experience in a for-profit acute or behavioral health healthcare setting or related healthcare system is highly desired.
HR management experience with multi-site and multi-state locations.
Ability to collaborate effectively with field and leadership to achieve outcomes; responsive in managing timely issues.
Strong experience with HR operations, employee relations, HR staff management and development.
Prior experience managing high-volume full-cycle recruitment.
Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws; experience with EEOC and regulatory agencies; understanding of Joint Commission HR requirements.
Thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission and CMS (Medicare) regulations.
Knowledge of labor relations and union avoidance tactics.
Proficiency with Human Resources Information Systems.
Skills:
Knowledge of compensation practices and wage/hour laws.
Knowledge of HRIS systems (e.g., Lawson, HR Smart, RAS reporting).
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to maintain confidential information; excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and organizational skills.
