Job Title : Consultant Department : BECS - Repair & Modernization BECS, a Lerch Bates company, seeks a
Consultant
who will identify, plan, direct, and oversee rehabilitation projects. This role oversees multiple projects, providing solutions and recommendations to clients, and delivers technical review, mentorship, and training to specialists, engineers, and other team members. The consultant acts as a technical liaison in the field of practice. What You’ll Do

Conduct on-site investigations and field reviews of existing buildings.
Review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify risk (e.g., water penetration, air leakage, condensation).
Focus on structural engineering, building enclosures, commercial roof systems, waterproofing systems, and exterior facades, including masonry.
Prepare reports and presentations documenting existing conditions and recommended repairs for damage, defects, or conditions.
Conduct peer reviews of findings for direct reports and peers.
Participate in and/or lead meetings with owners, developers, architects, adjustors, and other consultants to verify scope and complexity.
Coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants for the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
Review drawings, details, and specifications; review shop drawings and submittals for project intent and performance.
Provide on-site QA observations to ensure conformance to contract documents, standards, and manufacturer requirements.
Prepare site visit reports and supervise technicians and specialists providing field reviews.
Manage all aspects of the project including scope, schedule, design, budget, quality, staff, and execution.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients; manage client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
Monitor project status and changes; manage change orders per Lerch Bates processes.
Track project performance, lead status reviews, and address variances to plan; manage time, budgets, resources, and schedules.
Lead and participate in 90-day and annual reviews for direct reports where applicable.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction, or Architecture.
P.E./AIA or other relevant licensure.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in architecture, engineering, and/or construction.
Strong understanding of building design and construction for residential, commercial, or institutional projects.
Knowledge of building enclosure design principles.
Ability to communicate complex technical information and build rapport with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Excellent technical writing and communication skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
Experience leading teams and collaborating in a project environment; attention to detail and quality.
Experience with contractor work on structural, building envelope, roofing, and/or waterproofing projects; experience with project accounting and budget management.
Proficiency in design/modeling software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, WUFI, THERM, etc.) preferred.
