The position will be located in our Lakewood, Colorado office; however, other WSP office locations will be considered for an exceptional candidate. Be involved in projects with our US Mine Waste Team and work on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects as part of a regional team.

Work within our Mine Waste team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry Perform engineering tasks such as:
Geotechnical field investigations Site and material characterization Design of facilities including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluations Slope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and deformation analyses to support facility designs Surface water management analysis and facility designs
Prepare technical reports documenting field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs Assist with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates Perform domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring Work with and lead multi-disciplinary project teams Support technical proposals and design work packages in response to client needs Manage the work of junior engineers Mentor peers and foster a positive work culture Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures Complete training on assigned tasks Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering, or closely related discipline Engineer in Training Certification 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience Strong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analyses Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and on teams Comfortable working in remote settings Active focus on health and safety for themselves and others Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, and tools Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological engineering, or an equivalent field of study Professional Engineer Registration or ability to complete the PE exam within 6 months to 1 year of start date Prior internship related to the degree and discipline Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including scoping and tracking hours/expenses Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Muk3D) Familiarity with geotechnical analysis software (Slide2D, Slope/W, Seep/W) About WSP WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms.
