Essential Job Functions
Executes the mission of the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine. This includes setting the strategic vision and creating a dynamic process engaging both the academic community and the community impacted by the illnesses we study and treat. Collaborates with the development office, engaging the donor community and expanding these efforts locally and nationally. Reviews and provides daily management of the Institute's grant and contractual obligations. Oversees the units of INIM, working with the directors of the divisions: clinical care, laboratory science, translational research, computational medicine, and core units such as data management and finance/accounting. Oversees the research application process and grant fiscal responsibilities ensuring compliance with established policies and research protocols. Acts as a liaison between faculty and staff at all levels of employment. Manages and maintains the Institute's professional and interdepartmental contacts, including, but not limited to: The College of Osteopathic Medicine, Business Services, Grants and Contracts, Office of Clinical Research, Offices of the Chief Legal Counsel, Office for Research and Technology Transfer, Purchasing, Physical Plant and Controller's office. Collaborates with the INIM Research Program Manager. Endorses institutional business development by providing leadership and tactical support for the institutions strategic plans. Promotes INIM growth and institutional advancement through the planning of mixed media campaigns and the exploration of emerging technologies. Collaborates with the VP of Advancement to develop the INIM Advisory Council and chairing these meetings. Collaborates with the Board of Directors and implements a fund-raising strategy to raise unrestricted philanthropic gifts to benefit the INIM. Maintains a relationship with University Advancement to be a part of the university wide comprehensive campaign. Promotes new prospects and stewards existing donors. Provides leadership to board of directors on solicitation for programs, scholarship, clinics and research. Endorses professional development and collaborative needs of the workforce. Performs needs assessments to determine continuing education needs of the INIM staff and provides appropriate opportunities for continuing education. Reviews every aspect of institutional operation to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. Directs the planning and strategic formation of Institute. Responsible for the administrative management of the institute. Collaborates with the executive committee of the INIM to create and monitor strategic plan. Coordinates and plans annual meetings with University leadership to review progress and engage in planning. Monitors implementation of capital projects to assure adherence to operational plans and budgets. Provides overall administrative direction and coordination for revenue cycle management policies, procedures and programs in regards to grants and donations in conjunction with COM Coordinator Grants/Special Projects. Endorses clinical research initiatives as needed. Prepares regular and ad hoc reports as needed and requested. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of government and private foundation contracts. Knowledge and Experience in a non-profit environment with advocacy for special populations. Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team in order to accomplish complex tasks in a professional, detail oriented work environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels in an organization and as a team member. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines and work independently with minimal oversight or direction. Skilled at using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to identify complex problems and interpret data in order to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions for meaningful change in the Institute's operation. Ability to act as the Institute's immediate human resources contact with knowledge of employment regulations and human resource practices. Ability to perform cost benefit analysis regarding institute objectives. Ability to create value with limited resources and implement cost effective solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to refine complex concepts into manageable information to support the Institute's message. Ability to tactfully negotiate with groups of interdisciplinary individuals of varying ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to organize and motivate employees to effectuate the Institute's goals. Experience in organizing and administering Institutional Research Programs.
Education & Experience
Required Certifications/Licensures: Required Education:
Bachelor\'s Degree Major (if required): Required Experience:
Five (5) years or more years of administrative experience at a leadership level. Preferred Qualifications: 1. MBA, MD, and/or PhD administrative leader with department or executive experience preferably within an academic medical center and/or a major research institution. 2. Have had positive, sustained impact in complex environments where collaboration and influence management were critical to success. 3. Have extensive experience and knowledge in strategic resource analysis and financial/budget management. 4. Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model. 5. Be an effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills. 6. Have a proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external leaders and organizations. 7. Have a highly collaborative management style. 8. Experience managing compliance with established policies, governmental regulations. 9. Experience in the areas of business planning, marketing and operations.
