Provide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, including power supply and propulsion systems. Research and develop ship propulsion systems, including diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise and vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems; apply to applicable design and requirements. Develop system documentation and ship specifications. Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels and shipboard propulsion machinery; review and develop technical data packages; provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements; conduct and oversee trade studies. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution. At least six (6) years of progressive experience in Marine Mechanical Engineering fields. Experience developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on propulsion configurations and related components. At least one (1) year of experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs. Knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations. Proficient with common productivity software. Strong communications skills. Seniority level
