PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for providing oversight to skilled maintenance team responsible for maintenance and repairs of production equipment, including preventive maintenance, for assigned production facility. Provides strong, customer-focused support through effective collaboration with departmental leaders and operators to enable safe and efficient manufacturing of quality products while minimizing downtime and costs. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY: Accountable to established maintenance processes and procedures, providing guidance and direction to a team of skilled technicians across various shifts focused on balancing quality, productivity, cost, and safety to provide excellent service to internal customers and achieve positive results. Representative of plant management responsible for leading others through building trust, providing support and driving accountability to a team of production Team Members Collaborates with department supervisors to support activities necessary to ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are completed in accordance with the preventative maintenance schedule to help minimize downtime, increase efficiencies, and reduce costly repairs. Reviews and evaluates new and outstanding maintenance requests daily, interprets specifications and reviews technical data as needed to determine course of action and/or resolution; assigns and documents work orders, tasks and deadlines to appropriate team members ensuring regular status updates are documented and communicated to the necessary stakeholders across all shifts. Evaluates and determines maintenance schedules, estimates hour requirements, expenses and tools needed for completion of job assignments. Proactively seeks to identify and resolve potential maintenance issues before they arise. Addresses procedural and/or equipment problems and in collaboration with plant Supervision and Operators, researches and investigates root cause, recommends and implements solutions, ensuring appropriate communication and/or on the job training is provided to all team members impacted. Establishes or adjusts work schedules, procedures, or assignments to meet maintenance schedules and production needs. Proactively partners with production scheduling to coordinate scheduling of regular, ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs necessary to maintain operation of equipment and prevent downtime and costly repairs. Ensures team has the proper tools, resources, information and training to perform the tasks or responsibilities of their job. Effectively utilizes current tools, systems, and workflows within the department to maintain and record time and maintenance information, work orders, Preventative Maintenance tracking, etc. Demonstrates a personal commitment to Safety and leading and modeling all safety processes; follows and enforces all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines per SCT and regulatory standards (i.e.: OSHA, BRCGS) Uses situational awareness and actively looks to identify and report weak signals that can lead to unsafe behaviors and conditions; consistently wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task at hand and within the assigned area; immediately notifies Manager or Safety Team of any unsafe condition that exists. Ensures departmental safety education and training is completed and current for maintenance team and in accordance with corporate policy and regulatory requirements. Maintains a Continuous Improvement mindset, partnering with Maintenance Manager and other cross-functional team members to identify and address needs focused on improving overall processes and performance of the team, the department, and the production facility; adopts and appropriately adapts to changes or improvements to processes, new procedures, and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation. Develops and builds specific skills and expertise level of the team as a whole through targeted job training, coaching, certifications, etc. in order to increase the overall capabilities needed to fully support the production facility; routines assesses and ensures capabilities can meet the various technical, mechanical, electrical and general maintenance needs necessary to minimize downtime, maintain efficiencies, prevent costly repairs, and sustain the life and longevity of production equipment. Continuously provides timely performance feedback throughout the year, including the completion and delivery of annual performance reviews; manages performance of team through ongoing constructive feedback and coaching to improve skills and performance. Drives and enforces practices such as Lean Manufacturing and 5S to drive departmental and overall plant performance; maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S program. Consistently maintains and complies with all BRCGS product/food safety practices, policies, and procedures within the plant environment. Responsible for maintaining and improving the vibration analysis process, as required by facility.
Interprets and communicates company policies, safety
regulations/procedures
and overall work standards to team ensuring compliance and proper accountability. Assists and performs other maintenance or related duties as assigned and/or required by specific location or SCT facility.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5+ years’ maintenance experience including leading a maintenance team within a production and manufacturing environment responsible for heavy, industrial equipment maintenance; paperboard or corrugated packaging industry is a plus. Must be mechanically oriented with demonstrated experience troubleshooting operational problems, and machinery malfunctions. Proficient in MS Office applications - Word, Outlook, Excel. Ability to effectively utilize maintenance software systems with experience using ERP or MRP enterprise systems preferred. High school diploma required; Two-year degree or technical / trade certifications is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must have the ability to read, understand, and communicate to others the meaning of complex documents including legal documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, and communicate in English.
