About the Role: This is an exciting time to join Milestone Funeral Partners! Based in Auburn, Maine with locations throughout the Northeast, we partner with funeral homes, cemeteries and crematories to provide exceptional care and service to the families in our communities. Our business is growing rapidly, and our Finance team is looking forward to welcoming an Accounts Payable Specialist. This is a critical role in managing and maintaining the financial integrity of the organization's accounts payable processes. This position is responsible for ensuring that all invoices are processed accurately and timely, contributing to the smooth operation of the company’s financial activities. The specialist will reconcile accounts, maintain detailed records, and support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure compliance with accounting standards. By collaborating with vendors and internal departments, the role helps resolve discrepancies and supports audit requirements. Ultimately, this position ensures that the company meets its financial obligations efficiently while maintaining strong vendor relationships. Responsibilities: Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests in accordance with company policies and procedures. Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in accounts payable records and the general ledger. Maintain accurate and organized documentation for all accounts payable transactions to support audit and compliance requirements. Utilize accounting software, including NetSuite, to enter journal entries and update financial records. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to address payment inquiries and resolve outstanding issues. Ensure timely payments by meeting deadlines and managing payment schedules effectively. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable. Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role, specifically with multi-entity experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Strong knowledge of general ledger processes and journal entries. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Ability to provide excellent internal customer service to field employees. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Proficiency with accounting software, specifically NetSuite. Experience with advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word. Familiarity with process improvement initiatives within accounts payable. Previous experience working in a corporate finance or accounting department. Knowledge of compliance standards and audit procedures related to accounts payable.
