JOB PURPOSE: The Laundry Department is a key department to ensure all linen and terry is presented at its best. The Attendant/Washer process all soiled hotel bed linens, terry and food and beverage table linens by operating all laundry machinery in accordance to hotel’s standards.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements. Adhere to all Health Department, sanitation and safety regulations as required by the hotel. Separate soiled bed linen/terry/food & beverage table linen according to departmental standards. Sort all stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard items. Weigh each load of soiled items; place designated weights in the laundry machines. Operate all laundry machine accordance with specified amounts, times and temperatures for the particular items to be washed. Operate dryers according to load size. Set dryers to designated times and temperatures for the particular ítems to be dried. Operate the ironer and folder machines according to specifications. While processing cleaned linen through the machines, check the cleanliness and condition of each; separate damaged/stained items. Fold cleaned linen and stack into designated amounts by type and size. Place clean linen in cart for distribution. Document and process guest request for laundry, dry cleaning and pressing of garments. Operate hand held iron to press garments according to garment labels Place finished dry cleaning garments in designated areas for distribution. Place finished dry cleaning garments in designated areas for distribution. Report faulty equipment, damaged garments/linens, shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards and problems to supervisor. · Remove lint and debris from dryer filters and change filters as specified in departmental procedures. · Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout shift. Adhere to recycling procedures. · Breakdown and clean work areas/equipment according to departmental standards. · Use designated chemicals, supplies and equipment to clean laundry room floor. · Maintain cleanliness and organization of supplies/storage closets in accordance with departmental procedures. · Handle guest complaints by following the ILEAD and Service Recovery standards. · May assist with other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds / 23 kilograms and ability to push/pull medium to large weights/objects Frequently standing up and moving about the facility Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility Frequently bending, stooping, and kneeling Able to work alone as well as being a team member OTHER: Communication skills used frequently when interacting with guests and employees Basic reading, writing, and math abilities are used often when reading room assignments, completing checklists, replacing room linens and amenities Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays
