Position Overview The Quality Inspector is an entry-level position responsible for performing inspections on final products, assisting with the development of weld and assembly work instructions, and supporting the administration of weld qualification tests. This role works closely with experienced quality staff, production teams, and supervisors to ensure products meet company standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities Inspection
Perform visual and dimensional inspections of final products using basic measuring tools (tape measures, calipers, gauges). Verify that parts and assemblies meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Record inspection results and report non-conformances to the Quality Manager or supervisor. Assist in re-inspecting corrected items to confirm they meet requirements. Work Instructions
Help create and update simple weld and assembly work instructions under the guidance of senior staff. Take photos and document production steps for clarity in work instructions. Assist in organizing and maintaining work instruction files for easy access by production staff. Weld Exam Support
Assist in scheduling and setting up welder qualification and requalification tests. Help maintain basic records of welder certifications. Support the Quality Manager in distributing and collecting test materials. General Quality Support
Maintain cleanliness and organization in inspection and testing areas. Participate in basic quality training to develop skills in inspection techniques and standards. Support other quality-related projects as assigned. Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Basic math skills and ability to use a tape measure and hand tools. Willingness to learn welding symbols, inspection methods, and quality standards. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Preferred (but not required):
Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Familiarity with welding processes or shop drawings. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email). Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform inspections for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 40 lbs as needed. Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding, grinding, and assembly operations. Work Environment This role will work primarily on the manufacturing floor with some office time for documentation and training. Safety equipment will be provided and must be worn when required.
