TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

STATUS: REGULAR, FULL-TIME

FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

SALARY: $20-$22/HR DOE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); equipment and machine repair; painting, and other building maintenance

REPORTS TO:

Maintenance Supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Understands methodology and purpose of work assignments. Anticipates and communicates work and schedule changes. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions. Perform sophisticated preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists; repair or replace defective equipment or parts. Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment, or direct lower-level maintenance personnel to do so. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. Performs recording of maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work and maintain work order system. Work with Compliance & Training Coordinator to develop, update, and assist in training on Lock Out/Tag Out procedures. Develop, update, and assist in training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Provide backup to Maintenance Supervisor for ordering of parts and equipment upon request. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

At least 3 years factory/industrial maintenance experience. Low voltage electrical systems experience, and PLC/VFB experience preferred. Ability to use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Ability to solve problems and be proactive in preventing them. Strong verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills. This position involves long periods of standing and walking, stooping, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing and bending; frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds; pushing/pulling of heavy objects; ability to move hands quickly and grasp, manipulate and assemble objects with both hands, including small objects; with or without accommodation.
