Position Summary The Food Service Helper/Quick Stop is responsible for providing guidance and delivering excellent customer service to students and staff. This role is tasked with operating the Quick Stop during Breakfast and Lunch services and preparing everything necessary to do so. This role involves the preparation, cooking, heating, and serving of a variety of foods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen ingredients. Additionally, the Quick Stop Associate supports other tasks within designated food service production and service areas, operates POS, and adheres to cleaning and sanitizing protocols in alignment with 9th-12th grade food service operating standards.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Must complete a physical exam with Concentra. Must be ServSafe certified or willing to obtain certification. Physically able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, squat, and lift 30 lbs. depending on task requirements. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), safety and sanitation standards, food preparation methods, portion control, and proper food handling and storage. Ability to accept instruction and work collaboratively in a team environment. Proficient in counting money and making change. Experience with computers and cash registers. Able to work safely with large kitchen equipment. Skilled at developing positive working relationships with supervisors, students, and community members and sensitivity to specific needs. Alternatives to these qualifications may be considered at the discretion of the Director.

Key Responsibilities Daily Operations

Adhere to uniform policy: hairnet, non-verbal hat, uniform shirt, appropriate black pants, and rubber-soled shoes. Operate the Quick Stop line during breakfast and lunch service, ensuring speed, quality, and customer satisfaction. Follow the daily menu, meeting all meal requirements and assist in options and feedback for the weekly Quick Stop menu with the Coordinator, Cook, and Manager. Maintain CEU certifications as required by MDE. Operate POS systems, count drawers after meal periods, and submit all collected funds to the Manager. Communicate regularly with the Manager regarding any concerns involving students, staff, food quality, or service needs.

Food Preparation, Sanitation & Safety

Serve food according to USDA and National School Lunch Program guidelines, including all District and MDE regulations. Assist with all aspects of meal production and service including line setup and breakdown, serving, replenishment, cleaning and sanitizing serving wells and lines, cleaning food preparation areas, washing dishes, labeling, dating, and storing leftover food. Take food and equipment temperatures on the serving line to ensure safety and compliance. Keep kitchen and service areas safe, clean, and in full compliance with local and state health standards.

Teamwork & Support

Provide assistance wherever needed to support daily operations. Collaborate with and take direction from the Manager to ensure efficient meal service. Be flexible and prepared to fill in on any station as needed to maintain smooth operations. Provide excellent customer service and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189. Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential. All staff members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward one another at all times.
