General Description:
The
EHS Industrial Wastewater Treatment Technician
is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the industrial wastewater treatment facility and its associated systems. This role requires technical knowledge of plant operations and ensures compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations, including those related to stormwater and the underground sewer system. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed by the EHS Manager through reports and performance outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
( Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. ) Perform and document sampling, monitoring, and testing to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal regulations. Record meter readings, gauge readings, and operational data. Monitor analytical parameters to ensure equipment is functioning properly and all permit limits are met. Install and inspect water lines and services. Maintain and repair the physical plant, pump stations, and all related equipment. Conduct routine and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on plant machinery. Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and holds valid certifications. Manage and maintain chemical inventory for wastewater pretreatment processes. Clean tanks, filter beds, and other system components as needed. Operate treatment equipment to purify and clarify water for reuse, disposal, or discharge. Manage processed water solid waste responsibly. Respond to emergencies and breakdowns at the plant and pump stations, including being on-call as required. Conduct required weekend or on-demand system checks. Communicate regularly with the EHS Manager about system performance, malfunctions, and maintenance recommendations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational records and logs. Adhere to all OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations. Comply with company SOPs and policies at all times. Load recycling trailers with materials ready for shipment to material recovery facilities. Assist with sorting and inspecting recyclable materials by grade and type (e.g., cardboard, plastics, aluminum, foil, paper, banding, glass). Support EHS team during audits and inspections (e.g., ISO, OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, City of Dallas). Assist in enhancing current EHS programs to support continuous improvement and sustainability goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Competencies:

High School Diploma or GED required 2-5 years of relevant industrial wastewater or environmental technician experience Ability to read, speak, and write in English Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations Familiarity with wastewater treatment systems, pump stations, and machinery Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Preventive maintenance knowledge Ability to operate hand tools, pressure washers, and forklifts Basic understanding of city, state, and federal wastewater discharge regulations Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in routine decisions Must be able to detect and differentiate colors Willingness and ability to work in environments involving mechanical, electrical, odor, chemical, and waste exposure (with appropriate safety precautions) Valid Texas Driver's License required Physical Requirements:
Stand upright for 6-7 hours at a time, up to 5 consecutive days Bend, stoop, and twist for prolonged periods Crawl under surfaces to perform inspections or repairs Lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds Work outdoors in various weather conditions Wear PPE and GMP-compliant clothing Enter confined spaces as required (permit-required spaces) Operate forklifts and other machinery safely Use gears, controls, and mechanical levers as needed Climb ladders up to 8 feet or higher, as required
