The Supplier Quality Representative (SQR) is a dual-role position responsible for both supplier surveillance and in-house inspection at the Columbia fabrication shop. The SQR ensures that purchased materials, fabricated equipment, and shop work meet contractual, regulatory, and workmanship requirements under AVANTech's NQA-1 Quality Assurance Program and applicable ASME codes.

When assigned to suppliers, the SQR conducts audits, surveillances, and in-process inspections to verify compliance with procurement and project requirements. When working at the Columbia shop, the SQR performs direct inspection of welding, materials, and fabrication activities, providing immediate quality oversight and support to production.

This exempt-level role requires independence, sound technical judgement, and strong communication skills to resolve quality issues in real time at both supplier sites and in the Columbia shop.

Supplier Quality Surveillance:

Conduct supplier audits, surveillances, and in-process inspections to NQA-1, AWS, ASME Section VIII, and B31.1 requirements Verify welder and procedure qualifications (WPS, PQR, WPQ) Monitor supplier fabrication and testing activities, report deficiencies, and follow up on corrective actions Review supplier documentation packages (CofCs, NDE reports, calibration records) for completeness and compliance Support procurement in supplier prequalification's and performance evaluations Columbia Shop Inspection:

Perform in-process and final inspections of welds, materials, and assemblies at the Columbia fabrication shop Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, procedures, and project requirements Support production with immediate quality feedback to prevent delays and rework Perform receiving inspections, material verification (PMI, traceability), and maintain quality records Assist Quality Engineers with traveler reviews, weld data verification, and closure of inspection packages Required:

AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) Post-high school education (technical, associate, or higher) Working knowledge of NQA-1, ASME Section VIII, and B31.3 Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to represent AVANTech with suppliers and customers Ability to work independently and exercise discretion in resolving quality issues Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Preferred:

Experience supporting DOE or nuclear fabrication projects Prior NDE certifications (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT) Experience conducting supplier audits or QA program evaluations Familiarity with modular fabrication, gloveboxes, or pressure boundary components Work Environment and Physical Demands

Based at Columbia shop with frequent travel to supplier facilities (up to 85%) Work performed in fabrication shops, supplier sites, and field environments (moderate to high noise, confined spaces, elevated access) Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Regular attendance and ability to work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines Benefits:
