Under the close supervision of the of the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) and the Staff Services Manger I of the Licensing Unit, the Seasonal Clerk's (SC) is responsible for providing a variety of general office duties in support of the Board's Licensing and Administration Units. The SC may utilize the Consumer Affairs System (CAS), the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), and Microsoft Office. The position may require the use of various office machines and software programs.

Department Information The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) protects and serves California consumers while ensuring a competent and fair marketplace. DCA educates consumers and protects professionals from unfair competition by unlicensed practitioners.

Special Requirements

Criminal Offender Record Information: Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring. In accordance to DCA's (CORI) procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position. Additionally, the position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program materials at all times.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

The incumbent works 20-32 hours per week in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. The ability to use a personal computer and telephone is essential. The incumbent may spend 75% of the working day handling application and license files throughout the Licensing Unit and file rooms. The ability to sit, stand, and/or walk is essential. The incumbent must move about inside the office to file cabinets, files, and office machinery. The incumbent is required to frequently ascend and descend a ladder when accessing files in the file cabinet as well as bending, grasping, reaching, and stooping to retrieve files. The incumbent must constantly position self to move between files, desks and copy machines. The incumbent must frequently box records, move boxes, files and office equipment weighing up to 45 pounds. The position requires bending and stooping to retrieve files; walking, sometimes outdoors in inclement weather; and lifting, up to 15-45 pounds
