Position Description:
Job duties include providing in-person ASL Interpretation services for Deaf employees of the Defense Finance Accounting Service in Cleveland, OH and occasionally at a satellite office in Bratenahl, OH. VRI services may also be requested on occasion to support virtual meetings with external and geographically separated participants. Service requests will range in duration from a minimum of two to nine hours during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, excluding 11 federal holidays. Interpreters will be hired and paid on a part-time, hourly basis and may be eligible for benefits including 401K with company contribution match, life insurance, and accidental death insurance.
Examples of Interpreting Assignments Include: • Staff meetings • Commemorative programs • Award ceremonies • Safety talks • Discussions on work procedures, policies, or assignments for formal and informal settings • Quarterly performance discussions • Annual performance appraisals • Disciplinary discussions • Basic staff training, classroom training • Interviews • All Hands meetings
Required Qualifications:
-Over the age of 18 and legally authorized to work in the United States
-Possess reliable transportation to the service location
-Relevant ASL certification or education required (Please provide copy of certification with application)
-Experience performing ASL interpretation in government settings is highly preferred.
