Job Title: Commercial Construction Sheet Metal Mechanic

Location: Lynchburg, VA

Pay Rate: $25/hour

Job Type: Contract

Experience Required: 3+ years

Position Overview:

We are currently hiring an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic for commercial construction projects in Lynchburg, VA. This is a contract position ideal for professionals with a strong background in commercial HVAC systems, ductwork fabrication, and installation. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and assembling sheet metal components in new construction and renovation environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products including commercial HVAC duct systems, vents, and fittings.

Interpret and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.

Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.

Install hangers, supports, and insulation as needed.

Ensure all work meets local building codes and safety standards.

Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and other trades on-site.

Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety protocols.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial sheet metal work.

Proficiency in working with galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum duct systems.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and mechanical plans.

Skilled in operating shears, brakes, rollers, and other fabrication equipment.

Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and job site protocols.

Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Reliable transportation and punctuality are a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with large-scale commercial HVAC installations.

Familiarity with SMACNA standards.

OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

Ability to supervise or mentor apprentices (a plus).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
