Job Title: Controls Technician Job Description
The Controls Technician role is focused on delivering mission-critical Building Management System (BMS) service projects across Northern & Central New Jersey. Candidates must operate independently at a high level, leading troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and integration tasks in live data center environments.
Responsibilities
Lead troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and integration tasks in live data center environments.
Independently troubleshoot and commission BMS, SCADA, and PLC systems.
Interpret and apply mechanical drawings and control schematics.
Engage with customers, providing strong communication in live project environments.
Set up and commission new pieces of equipment in existing sites, including setting up points, graphics, and history.
Essential Skills
12+ years of hands-on experience in BMS, SCADA, PLCs, or HVAC controls.
Proficiency in at least one of the following: Allen Bradley PLC, Ignition SCADA, or Wonderware SCADA.
Solid grounding in HVAC systems, control sequences, and integration strategies.
Ability to travel at least 95% of the year, both locally and out of state.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Strong customer-facing communication skills.
Experience in field service and controls, including PLC programming and troubleshooting.
Work Environment
This role involves 100% local and domestic travel to client sites, with extended stays at a single site for up to 3-4 weeks. Travel from home to project sites is considered a commute if less than 30 miles, with mileage reimbursement offered for extensive travel between sites. Work is primarily conducted on construction and service sites, focusing on installation without heavy-duty lifting. When not traveling, duties can be performed remotely from a home office. Projects are typically small, defined, and short-term, involving commissioning new equipment at existing sites.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $57.69/hr.
