MRI Technologist
Operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment safely and accurately to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. Work includes 1) preparing and operating MRI equipment, 2) positioning patients correctly and effectively, 3) recording the requested diagnostic images, and 4) sending results to physicians for evaluation and diagnosis. Work is performed under the strict safety/regulatory/license departmental standards and protocols. Incumbents are also accountable for applying knowledge of aseptic technique; maintaining quality control for all imaging equipment; and maintaining knowledge of physics, anatomy, techniques and medical terminology through participating in continuing education, seminars, meetings and in-services. Education/Work Experience Requirements Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology. Job Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of the concepts, standards, procedures and equipment relating to MRI examination and related procedures. Knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI safety, examinations and equipment. Knowledge of basic patient care activities that may be necessary during MRI examinations. Ability to document work activities in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Ability to use automated systems and MRI equipment at an acceptable level of proficiency. Ability to keep abreast of all education/training opportunities to ensure that MRI skills are kept current and/or updated. Ability to read, understand and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position. Licensure/Certification American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) certification is required. State of Washington Certification as a Radiological Technologist required unless ARRT(MR) is achieved through the ARRT Primary Pathway. Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.
