Grants And Development Manager
The Grants and Development Manager will work closely with the Chief Development Officer to identify, secure, and steward private and public grants to JFCS. The Manager will oversee and develop compelling communications and written products tailored to each funder, maintain an annual proposal and reporting calendar, research new foundation and corporate prospects, and support stewardship of existing and new funders. The ideal candidate will have a passion for JFCS' mission, be highly organized and proactive, have the confidence and ability to work independently, demonstrate ability to build strong working relationships with leaders across the organization, and serve as an ambassador for JFCS. Essential Responsibilities
Grant Development Work with the leadership team to explore, synthesize, articulate, prioritize and frame ideas for foundation support. Manage the JFCS foundation portfolio (approximately 10 deadlines per month). Lead the coordination of grant submission processes for all grants and reports and ensure that all proposal and reporting requirements are met. Regularly communicate with team members regarding upcoming deadlines and cultivation strategies, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration. Develop clear, engaging and tailored written products that communicate the case for investment and intended impact (concept papers, proposals, letters, reports). Collaborate with colleagues to develop budgets and reports; ensure that JFCS accurately tracks and reports against stated spending and metrics. Collaborate with Manager of Data and Evaluation to capture and track progress against consistent organizational and program metrics for proposals and reports. Communicate with, respond to, and maintain productive working relationships with staff at foundations. Compile prep sheets for stewardship meetings with foundation representatives. Stay abreast of JFCS programmatic updates and rapid external changes that impact the organization. Prospecting and Cultivation Conduct foundation and corporation prospect research; devise and execute plans to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward potential new funders. Conduct research on local and national trends to enhance JFCS' case for support and inspire funder interest. Support the cultivation of individual donors through prospect research and the development of compelling materials that outline opportunities for investment. Management and Operations Track progress toward short-term and long-term grant fundraising goals; generate reports for leadership and Board. Lead grant meetings to align on strategy and grant-related activities; drive follow up and next steps. Build and maintain the annual grants calendar and workflows in Raiser's Edge; ensure accurate tracking of associated activities, due dates, and deliverables. In partnership with Development Associate and Database Manager, ensure the integrity of grant and foundation data in Raiser's Edge. Oversee and supervise additional grant writing staff and contractors. Perform other related duties as assigned, modeling accountability, initiative, and commitment to achieving the organization's overall fundraising goals. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Liberal Arts, Nonprofit Management, Business, or related field. Minimum of five years of grants-related experience in social impact organization including an understanding of effective and impactful foundation relations strategies and solicitation approaches in developing, writing, and submitting grant applications. Exceptional oral and written communication skills with ability to synthesize unfamiliar information and communicate key points in a compelling way. Superb organizational skills and ability to manage multiple, deadline-driven projects. Comfort with preparing and coordinating budgets. Innate curiosity and interest in learning. Solutions-orientation; proficient in problem solving and demonstrates good judgment. High level of motivation and confidence and the ability to be resilient and adaptable in a changing environment. Ability to work independently and confidently with senior leadership at JFCS and in the foundation and/or corporate sector. Prior experience with fundraising databases, such as Raiser's Edge as well as grants management and foundation research tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Excel, Teams. Familiarity with regional and national philanthropic communities. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up to date with fundraising best practices.
