Safety Manager
to join our team and provide oversight on a large-scale construction project in Woodland Hills, CA. This role begins as a
35-month assignment
with the possibility of permanent employment based on performance and project needs. Responsibilities Provide on-site safety management oversight for subcontractor activities. Ensure the companys Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) are accessible on site and properly aligned. Conduct audits, inspections, and daily safety assessments to verify compliance with Cal/OSHA, SSSP, and other governing requirements. Prepare and submit required safety reports (daily, weekly, monthly). Attend project meetings and provide safety analyses as requested. Identify site hazards, communicate immediately with the General Contractors (GC) Safety Manager, and escalate incidents promptly. Review safety plans for high-risk activities such as confined space entry, fall protection, crane lifts, trenching, hot work, and abatement. Lead, document, and manage records for weekly tailgate safety meetings. Participate in foreman meetings to provide safety feedback and recommendations. Review three-week look-ahead schedules to anticipate and mitigate upcoming risks.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be based in or able to commute daily to Woodland Hills, CA, with reliable transportation. Minimum 5 years of construction safety management experience. Strong knowledge of excavation, confined space, electrical, chemical, and environmental hazards, as well as hazardous materials abatement (e.g., asbestos). Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with GC safety teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and standard construction software. Valid Class C Drivers License.
Required Certifications
Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), BCSP First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Preferred Certifications
Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER. Additional safety/health credentials as appropriate.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $90,000 annually Benefits include: 401(k), health, dental, vision, life insurance, and paid time off.
