We are seeking a senior, experienced
Business Development Manager - BioPharma
to join our team and support growth in the advanced therapies space. This role focuses on plasmid DNA, mRNA, recombinant proteins and related manufacturing services, and collaborates with the North America BD team to meet revenue and growth targets. The position will sit in Boston, MA. Responsibilities
Based on a thorough market analysis, identify and prioritize new leads in the pDNA, mRNA and proteins manufacturing space. Be present in the field locally and out-of-state to establish communication with the key decision-makers, by utilizing existing professional network and attending relevant conferences, events and other outreach. Present WACKERs capabilities at conferences and to clients. Organize visits to the lead's facilities and WACKERs sites, identifying the lead's service requirements, build strong relationships, and successfully win the opportunity. Ensure the timely preparation of proposals for our CDMO services and efficient conclusion of manufacturing service agreements. Identify and build strategic partnerships that enhance WACKERs service offering and help WACKERs short- and long-term revenue growth. Closely collaborate with Program Management team and our other SMEs like Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality and others. Work closely with the other BD Managers and Marketing to identify the most relevant conferences. Write conference reports, provide feedback to Marketing, post-process all new leads and coordinate follow-up. Establish continuous market monitoring, collect competitive intelligence, identify trends and provide insights to our technical experts for developing new solutions. Continuous improvement by working closely with the SMEs to adjust our service offering. Qualifications
BSc (and preferably MSc) in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology or similar relevant education. 10+ year relevant industry sales/business development experience 6+ years experience in the field of plasmid DNA, mRNA, proteins manufacturing services and/or cell and gene therapy at a commercial CDMO Ability to travel +60% (incl. air travel and limited international) Proven strong professional network in the biotech/biopharma industry Experience in business development and negotiating service contracts Track record of successful deals in the relevant CDMO industry Related experience with Biopharma cGMP manufacturing processes Ability to approach new customers and values building long term customer relations Excellent verbal / written communication and technical presentation skills Ability to build relationships with internal employees to coordinate successful business development objectives Demonstrated ability to execute customer proposals independently, gather competitive information and supports the BD strategy Track record of establishing relationships and creating a partnerships with employees across the organization, both on a regional and international level Ability to travel locally, air travel US and international and attend Biotech conferences and give presentations (+60% travel) Ability to work independently, self-driven, hunter spirit with limited supervision Comfortable working in a high paced and uncertain environment Enjoys working in a growing and dynamic biotech atmosphere and being part of a very international setting.
