lead the store team to generate revenue through the daily processing of donated goods, including receiving, sorting, pricing, merchandising, and selling clothing, furniture, and household goods. Overview
Lead a high-volume retail operation in Houma, LA, driving revenue while managing costs and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment aligned with the mission of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana. Responsibilities Lead, manage, and motivate store employees to meet production guidelines: a minimum of 110 garments per hour with a minimum quality standard of 90%. Ensure a constant rotation and flow of merchandise to the sales floor daily. Staff the retail store by hiring, coaching, training, developing, and leading the store team; complete interviews and new hire paperwork as required. Hold staff accountable through coaching, performance evaluations, training, and corrective action when necessary. Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures; conduct drills; submit incident reports for injuries; monitor building maintenance and submit work tickets as needed. Lead and assist in receiving, pricing, and displaying merchandise. Open and close the store; balance cash registers; review profit and loss statements; conduct end-of-day procedures including safe counts, safe audits, cash replenishment, and petty cash oversight. Create and maintain a positive public image with a clean, hazard-free store environment and excellent customer service. Perform duties of store personnel including cash handling, donation receiving, sorting, pricing, and maintaining cleanliness of store and restrooms. Communicate daily needs with the transportation department and District Manager. Develop work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and that donations are processed from donation door to production area to sales floor on the same day received. Conduct daily store walkthroughs, team huddles, and regular store meetings. Manage production, revenue, payroll, and expenses and strive to achieve or exceed store budgeted goals; set goals and KPIs and analyze data for production and sales. Maintain a clean, hazard-free store environment through routine cleaning and upkeep. Schedule requirements include working one Sunday per month; closing shifts twice a week with rotation of Friday or Saturday closing shifts; rotate weekends with store leadership team. Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Some college, leadership training, or team-building experience preferred. Minimum of five years in retail management preferred; minimum 1-2 years in management required. Prefer background leading teams in retail sales, production, manufacturing, or assembly. Must have reliable transportation; must pass MVR check and provide proof of driver license, liability insurance, vehicle registration, and a current vehicle inspection sticker. Proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power BI, and other programs. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Must have knowledge of clothing brands and household item values. Must be able to work a flexible schedule at short notice, including nights and weekends, and occasionally long hours. Must be able to interact professionally with a diverse array of people; provide leadership and mentoring to store staff; train and develop employees to be efficient in production and on the sales floor. Must be able to perform repetitive hand movements when sorting, hanging, and pricing; prolonged standing, walking, and bending.
Working Conditions
