General Summary: Design and engineer lighting, power, low voltage, and associated control systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, educational, governmental, and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. Provide the engineering to develop the construction documents for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical, architectural, and mechanical components.

Job Description General Summary: Design and engineer lighting, power, low voltage, and associated control systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, educational, governmental, and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. Provide the engineering to develop the construction documents for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical, architectural, and mechanical components.

Essential Job Functions

Possess and demonstrate engineering knowledge to design and analyze electrical systems for installation, interconnection, and control of electrical, architectural, and mechanical components.

Design and engineer lighting and power distribution systems, low voltage systems (fire alarm, telecommunications, data networks, lighting control, power monitoring, etc.), including equipment sizing, using applicable codes and standards.

Manage or lead a project team.

Review and establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and constraints with the Project Manager or client.

Design or analyze engineered equipment, e.g., substation mechanical equipment and systems integration.

Interpret and apply NEC and NFPA codes and standards relevant to electrical design.

Adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.

Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages for lighting, power systems, etc.

Monitor production and quality of construction documents, including reviewing and marking up drawings.

Coordinate with other disciplines to produce integrated construction documents.

Develop and mentor less experienced staff.

Conduct field measurements and checks at project sites.

Maintain organized project files with calculations, schedules, correspondence, and reference materials.

Edit or draft project specifications.

Review project submittals for conformance; specify actions for non-conformance.

Respond to RFIs.

Develop accurate project cost estimates.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master’s preferred.

Professional Engineer’s License is required.

LEED accreditation is preferred.

Experience

12+ years in design and engineering of power distribution and lighting systems.

Experience with short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.

Additional Skills

Design of facilities power and lighting, team leadership.

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant analysis software (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).

Experience with Bluebeam, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, lighting design software (AGI32 or equivalent).

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
