The Solution Engineer team within the Microsoft Americas Enterprise sales organization engages directly with customers to contribute to their success. We are at the forefront of this effort, helping customers protect and govern data and security posture across the estate and AI platforms. As a Data Security Solution Engineer, you will drive data security challenges for our customers, enabling modernization of their data security architecture and posture. You will work on cutting-edge projects that leverage the latest technologies to drive impact, collaborating with a team that thrives on creativity and continuous learning. Drive technical sales with decision makers using demos and PoCs to influence solution design and enable production deployments. Lead hands-on engagements—hackathons, code-with sessions, and architecture workshops—to accelerate adoption of Microsoft’s developer tools and cloud platforms. Build trusted relationships with developers and platform leads, co-designing secure, scalable architectures and solutions. Resolve technical blockers and objections, collaborating with product engineering to share insights and improve products. Maintain deep technical understanding of data security architectures and technologies including Microsoft Purview. Develop strategies and recommendations to improve the client’s data security posture, tailor Microsoft messaging to data security opportunities, and enhance team capabilities for protecting data within AI platforms and applications. Represent Microsoft through thought leadership in developer communities and customer forums. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years experience OR 3+ years experience in technical pre-sales or technical consulting or equivalent. Proven ability to lead technical engagements (e.g., hackathons, PoCs, MVPs) that drive production-scale outcomes. Experience designing and implementing Information Security, Privacy and Information Governance solutions leveraging Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Priva and Microsoft Purview or related platforms. Working knowledge of data security principles, patterns, and practices in an enterprise environment. Working knowledge of Zero Trust principles, threat modeling, and security posture management in an enterprise environment. Experience with Microsoft data security solutions (Microsoft Purview) or related technologies. Other Requirements

6+ years in technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery or equivalent. 4+ years in cloud/hybrid/on-prem architectures, migrations, or technology management. Certification in relevant technologies (e.g., Office 365, Power BI, Azure Architect/Development, Cloud Platform Technologies, Information Security, Architecture). Compensation

Data Security Solution Engineer IC3 - typical base pay range across the U.S. is USD 85,100 - 169,800 per year; location-specific ranges apply (e.g., San Francisco Bay Area and NYC). IC4 ranges USD 106,400 - 203,600 per year with location-specific adjustments. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
