Overview Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, technical expertise, and provide superior customer service as a member of the store team.
Essential Job Functions
Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person; communicate clearly and concisely; adapt style to suit customers by problem solving, and resolve conflicts.
Use all systems to manage the customer flow to deliver a five-star customer experience.
Maintain service levels by being Prepared, Welcoming, Meeting needs, and being there for customers; complete operational checklists and address emotional and practical needs.
Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at once and contribute to Five-Star Customer Service storewide.
Address customer concerns with confidence; know when to escalate and partner with the leadership team.
Explain how alterations fit into the dress for events in partnership with Alterations; promote alteration services and personalization options.
Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting on gown fit and customization.
Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience; comply with Dress Code Policy.
Greet and escort alterations customers to and from appointments.
Inspect garments altered/steamed/pressed to verify pristine condition before delivery.
Respond promptly to customer questions with product and service information; build long-term customer relationships.
Maintain inventory management by processing special orders and ensuring quality standards for all merchandise.
Ensure alteration pricing meets company standards; manage alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning to company standards.
Resolve customer service issues swiftly and in line with company guidelines; support all cash wrap processes and process transactions accurately.
Keep alterations room clean and organized.
Physical Demands
Occasionally stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools; climb stairs; bend, twist, and move around the store.
Manual dexterity for POS terminals, counting money, steaming garments, computer use, sewing and fittings.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds; vision requirements for reading and operating electronic devices.
Education & Credentials
High school diploma or equivalent.
1-2 years of retail experience in apparel or specialty store environment.
Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal or special occasion production.
Prior experience with computerized POS is a plus.
