The
Scientist - Systems Engineering, Program Chief Engineer
for the Precision Attack Strike Munition (PASM) will be responsible for supporting technical execution of a fast-paced unmanned air vehicle program for long range launch effects, located in Ashburn, VA. The scope includes development, manufacturing, and qualification of the system. The Scientist position will report to the Chief Engineer of the Agile Development Division within the Airborne Combat Systems sector. The Scientist - Systems Engineering, Program Chief Engineer responsibilities include providing technical direction to all programs in the Radar portfolio, leading the architecture implementation of current pursuits, and supporting customer briefings on current programs and on new technology applications. The role involves close collaboration with other L3Harris programs to ensure commonality in system designs and growth opportunities. The position will also coach and develop the engineering staff on the program. Essential Functions
Provide subject matter expert technical leadership, maintain customer communications, and be a technical authority representative for the PASM program Understand customer mission and customer sets; drive technical strategy within the Systems Engineering Organization Interface effectively with program management and customers Lead or support new pursuits for the organization across campaigns and proposal processes; serve as a technical leader for new pursuits Support and develop technical roadmaps within the organization Drive adoption of common architecture frameworks and prevent unique product implementation at proposal/concept design Identify opportunities for engineering improvements (process, people, tools) Demonstrate core competencies including problem solving, team leadership, strategic thinking/planning, communication, IPT/cross-functional behavior, accountability, critical thinking, and ethical conduct Have strong knowledge of air vehicle or unmanned air vehicle systems Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience; or graduate degree with 10 years; in lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of related experience Active Secret Security Clearance, US Citizenship Preferred Additional Skills
Experience with aerospace systems, especially integrated hardware/software products Experience integrating payloads (sensors or communications) into air vehicles Experience leading a team to complete program tasking Experience in Control Account Management as part of Earned Value Management System Experience in unmanned aircraft or guided weapon systems Experience with proposal development and basis of estimates Experience developing use cases from customer objectives and concepts of operations Excellent people skills and ability to lead and collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in related engineering disciplines (Electrical, Hardware, Electro-Mechanical, Systems) Experience with MBSE, digital engineering, and system simulation Understanding of cyber security best practices Ability to coach, mentor, and build relationships with external organizations Ability to obtain a higher level security clearance if needed Experience in an engineering leadership role (e.g., IPT Lead) and interfacing with DoD customers Experience in large-scale hardware/software development and environmental qualification testing Experience in manufacturing on large-scale programs Ability to convey complex technical information clearly to executives and stakeholders L3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
