Overview
Workday Solution Architect – Payroll, Time & Scheduling at Beth Israel Lahey Health. This role is the thought leader for strategy, architecture, and optimization of Workday Payroll, UKG Workforce Management (WFM), and UKG Scheduling platforms across the health system. The role ensures a unified, efficient, and compliant approach to managing employee pay, timekeeping, and scheduling at scale. You will collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, Clinical Operations, and IT leaders to design and implement solutions that reduce administrative burden, streamline scheduling, and ensure payroll accuracy, leveraging automation, integrations, and modern digital tools. Responsibilities
Serve as the solution owner for Workday Payroll, UKG WFM, and UKG Scheduling, providing leadership across design, configuration, and ongoing optimization. Develop and maintain a comprehensive, forward-looking roadmap for Payroll, Time, and Scheduling systems aligned with workforce strategy, compliance mandates, and digital transformation efforts. Ensure consistent integration between scheduling, time tracking, and payroll to support seamless payroll processing and labor cost accuracy. Lead the design and implementation of integrations between Workday Payroll, UKG WFM/Scheduling, and other systems. Optimize cross-system processes for pay rule enforcement, shift differentials, premium pay, and compliance with union rules and regulatory requirements. Ensure secure and efficient data flows through Workday Studio, EIBs, Web Services, and UKG APIs or custom connectors. Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to design effective, compliant, and automated UKG Scheduling workflows. Leverage UKG tools to enhance shift management, minimize overtime, support self-scheduling, and align labor with patient care needs. Align scheduling strategies with timekeeping and payroll to improve workforce efficiency and satisfaction. Identify opportunities to automate payroll and scheduling tasks using Workday AI, UKG Analytics, and custom reporting tools enabling real-time workforce visibility, predictive analytics, and schedule adherence tracking. Explore and implement enhancements using Workday Extend, UKG mobile solutions, and new platform features. Continuously monitor and evaluate Workday and UKG feature releases to assess potential business value. Lead testing, validation, and deployment of new platform features or updates in alignment with business priorities and regulatory requirements. Ensure full documentation, controls, and compliance with organizational change management and governance protocols. Provide mentorship to analysts and developers supporting the Payroll, WFM, and Scheduling platforms. Promote best practices for configuration, security, and cross-system data integrity. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. 8+ years of ERP and workforce systems experience, including 2–3 years of Workday Payroll implementation/support experience. 2–3 years of UKG WFM and Scheduling experience. Proven experience leading solution architecture and system integrations across payroll, timekeeping, and scheduling in a large, complex enterprise (healthcare preferred). Deep understanding of payroll compliance, gross-to-net calculations, retro pay, and union labor and payroll rules. Experience supporting clinical workforce operations, shift differentials, and complex scheduling needs. Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll configuration, security, and integrations. UKG WFM pay rules, accruals, and time collection; UKG Scheduling templates, workflows, and self-scheduling features. Integration tools including Workday Studio, EIBs, APIs, Boomi and UKG API frameworks. Knowledge of Workday Extend, Prism Analytics, and AI tools is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to translate complex topics into business language. Adaptability and comfort working in fast-paced, change-driven environments.
