6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with core hours 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Notes:
Must be highly experienced in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Responsibilities
Manage intake processes for new FOIA requests in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and in line with DOI and NPS policies. Monitor FOIAXpress for new requests and referrals; monitor mail, faxes, and email accounts; input new requests into FOIAXpress. Analyze incoming requests for procedural deficiencies; draft acknowledgment letters. Manage searches for new and existing requests; identify offices, personnel, and park units likely to possess responsive records; task searches and monitor responses to ensure completeness. Follow up with custodians who do not reply within timeframes; ensure proper search documentation is completed. Provide guidance and hands-on training to custodians on conducting proper searches of records. Process records and prepare responses in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements; identify information exempted from release and apply appropriate FOIA exemptions; redact protected information as needed and annotate exemptions used in the FOIA/PA process. Perform FOIA Administrative Support; create and maintain electronic case files; update cases in FOIAXpress for accuracy; reconcile differences between files and FOIAXpress. Prepare and post monthly data quality audit reports and create custom reports as needed; perform case file close-out and archiving. Qualifications
Three or more years of experience in analytical and administrative support, including processing records for release under FOIA; associate’s degree or equivalent experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and electronic FOIA processing and e-discovery tools. Excellent written and oral communication skills to assist, interpret, track, and document casework effectively. Ability to ensure MS Word and Adobe training certificates for contractor staff at an expert level; knowledge of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and how to ensure electronically fillable forms are accessible. Strong understanding of the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. 552, and the ability to determine what information is covered and how to identify exemptions.
