Responsibilities
To be a key member of the Middleborough Public School Leadership Team, reporting to the Superintendent of Schools Serves as the school administrator of Special Education Oversees special education for all students ranging in age from 3-22, school nursing department, and Medicaid program Plans, directs, and coordinates the delivery of special education in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations Monitors the development and implementation of IEPs Provides the Superintendent and Director of Business and Finance with regular updates on the changing variables in the budget Evaluates, modifies, and develops programs within the Special Education Department and monitors the acquisition of materials, equipment, multi-media and textbooks for Special Education programs Assigns testing and evaluation responsibilities Supervises and evaluates the Special Education Coordinators, behavior team members, related service providers, and teachers as requested and in conjunction with building Principals Recruits, screens, and recommends staff members for the various positions within the Special Education Department Assists with Early Childhood Program and activities Assists with Kindergarten screening process and activities Approves Out of District placements and services and monitors all Out of District Placements Prepares the fiscal budget and evaluative reports as well as recommendations in the area of special education Prepares and monitors state and federal grants Oversees the management of Circuit Breaker and any associated audits Oversees coordination of Special Education Transportation in conjunction with the Director of Business and Finance Works with general education teachers, special education teachers, related service providers, and consulting staff to develop collaborative and inclusive programs that serve all children Serves on equity based committees and initiatives as a key member Attends and participates in meetings of the Middleborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) Participates in appropriate meetings with member collaboratives Establishes professional relationships with the various offices and agencies within the state and community that provide or regulate students with disabilities Plans on-going professional development in conjunction with the Leadership Team Coordinates all activities related to DESE oversight including Tiered Focused Monitoring, SSP Indicators, Problem Resolution Services (PRS) Capable of making professional judgements requiring technical knowledge and skills Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with little supervision All other duties assigned by the Superintendent
