Baxter is seeking a visionary and highly skilled Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join our Novum Infusion Pump team in the Medical Products and Therapies group. As a key member of our team, you will drive the development of embedded software solutions that enhance our infusion portfolio. What You'll Be Doing Design and Develop Embedded Software Applications: Create high-performance and responsive embedded software applications using the Qt framework, ensuring seamless integration with hardware components. Lead Architectural Design: Drive the architectural design of front-end software, focusing on modularity, scalability, and maintainability, ensuring software and hardware components work in harmony. Collaborate Across Functions: Work with hardware engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define system requirements and ensure seamless software-hardware integration. Mentor and Guide: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Ensure Code Quality: Conduct thorough code reviews, adhere to coding standards, implement testing strategies to validate software functionality and performance. Stay Ahead of the Curve: Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded systems development and verification to drive innovation. Document and Share Knowledge: Create and maintain documentation for software designs, processes, and testing procedures, and share knowledge with the team for continuous improvement.
What You'll Bring Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of embedded software development experience, including 1-2+ years specifically using the Qt framework. Technical Skills: Proficient in C++ and Qt/QML, strong understanding of object-oriented programming, and experience with RTOS and embedded Linux. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and proven leadership experience managing technical projects and mentoring team members.
Preferred Qualifications Additional Programming Languages: Experience with Python; familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins). UI/UX Design Principles: Knowledge of UI/UX principles for embedded systems and experience in writing, debugging, and optimizing C/C++ code for embedded environments. Automated Testing: Experience with automated testing using the Squish library for Qt.
Workplace and Compensation Baxter supports flexibility in the workplace and may require a minimum number of onsite days per week. The compensation range for this position is an estimated base salary of $112,000 to $154,000 annually, depending on location, skills, experience, and other factors. Eligibility for discretionary bonuses and other benefits is subject to company policy and applicable laws. Eligibility and Benefits Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
