Assistant Store Manager (Lakeshore) New Orleans, LA Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana is a community-driven organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of work. As an Assistant Store Manager, you will play a leadership role in delivering a positive and inclusive shopping experience while supporting programs that enhance the dignity and quality of life for individuals and families. Responsibilities Supervise the store team to generate revenue through the daily processing of donated goods. Drive the daily workflow of receiving, sorting, pricing, merchandising, and selling high volumes of donated clothing, furniture, and household goods. Support the store manager in operating a high-volume retail operation to support Goodwills mission. Lead, supervise, and motivate employees to meet production guidelines and maintain a steady flow of merchandise to the sales floor. Coach, train, develop, and lead the store team; assist in staffing the store. Ensure compliance with safety practices and policies; maintain a clean store environment and focus on customer service. Lead and assist in receiving, pricing, and displaying merchandise; open and close the store; balance cash registers and perform end-of-day procedures. Maintain a hazard-free store through daily cleaning and monitoring; perform duties of all store personnel as needed. Coordinate with transportation and district management; schedule employees to ensure complete donation processing from donation door to sales floor the day of receipt. Conduct daily store walkthroughs, team huddles, and regular meetings; monitor production, revenue, and expenses to meet budgeted goals.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to achieve budgeted goals and implement contingency plans when needed. Strong interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of people in a cordial, productive manner. Ability to market Goodwills mission to the public. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and motivate staff. Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Flexible schedule with availability on short notice, including nights and weekends. Must have access to transportation, pass MVR check, and provide valid drivers license, insurance, vehicle registration, and current vehicle inspection. Proficiency with repetitive hand movements for sorting, hanging, and pricing; able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods; able to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of clothing brands and household item values.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years experience in retail management preferred. Background in leading teams in retail sales, production, manufacturing, or assembly is preferred. Maintain minimum liability automobile insurance as required by the State of Louisiana; possess a valid drivers license, current registration, and state inspection. Proficiency in computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other programs.
