Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the direction, coordination, and optimization of all business and operational functions in alignment with the club’s mission, vision, core values, and philosophy. Reporting to the Inter Atlanta Futbol Club (IAFC) Board of Directors (BoD), the COO works collaboratively with the Chief Soccer Officer (CSO) and other leaders to implement strategic priorities and support the sustainable growth of the organization. Executive / Senior Management Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership
Maintain oversight of day-to-day business operations and ensure alignment with the club’s strategic goals. Collaborate with CSO and BoD on long-term strategic and business planning. Analyze operational systems and identify areas for improvement, efficiency, or cost savings. Collaborate with the CSO to develop and track progress toward annual and long-term goals. Partner with the CSO and Board Finance Committee to develop and manage the annual organizational budget. Monitor financial performance and provide regular progress reports. Identify opportunities to reduce expenses, increase operational sustainability, and promote profitability. Ensure compliance with commercial debt covenants and reporting requirements, including timely submission of financial statements and related disclosures. Community Engagement and Growth
Create and manage relationships with schools/school systems, neighborhood associations, other clubs, and other relevant organizations to help grow the club and brand Oversee organization’s fundraising efforts with foundations and corporations, which may include jersey sponsorship, funding for programs, and financial aid. Human Resources and Staff Management
Develop job descriptions for staff and coaching positions in partnership with the CSO. Design and implement an annual staff evaluation and documentation process. Work with the CSO and HR (if applicable) on staff recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes. Support development of staff compensation models, including incentive plans and annual adjustments aligned with the organizational budget Establish a process for requesting and approving staff time off. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented workplace culture. Program Operations and Logistics
Manage the internal organizational calendar in coordination with the CSO. Oversee field logistics, working with the Fields Committee to ensure adequate space is secured, maintained, and properly permitted. Create and oversee a travel management system for staff and coaches, including trip approvals and documentation. Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States. This role must be the employee’s primary professional commitment; secondary employment is not permitted. Expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, with a track record of optimizing budgets, improving cash flow, and supporting strategic decision-making. Preferred
At least 5 years of experience in senior leadership or operations roles in nonprofit sectors. Proven ability to manage budgets, lead cross-functional teams, and implement organizational systems. Helpful to have experience managing commercial debt Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and digital). Experience with strategic planning, staff development, and performance management. Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising and community engagement. High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to balance multiple stakeholder priorities. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This position is based in an office environment with regular in-person meetings and occasional field-based responsibilities. The role requires the ability to: Work on-site and attend in-person meetings and events. Sit, stand, and use a computer or phone for extended periods. Occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds. Work occasionally on evenings and weekends. Travel occasionally for organizational events or meetings, trainings, conferences, or other club business.
