Overview Wilmer Eye Institute is seeking applications for a highly qualified, full-time, fellowship-trained cornea and external disease specialist, with a concentration in ocular surface disease and ocular immunology to join the Wilmer Cornea Service with joint appointment in the Division of Ocular Immunology. The service provides individualized care for patients with ocular surface disorders and complex immune mediated corneal conditions and is focused on basic, clinical, and translational research. The position requires excellent clinical and surgical skills (specifically in high-risk corneal grafts, limbal stem transplants, keratoprosthesis, etc.), dedication to academic medicine, and commitment to teamwork and professional growth. Primary clinical activity will occur at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore with potential for some clinical effort at one of the Wilmer Eye Institute practice locations. The candidate will also be a faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and will engage in teaching of fellows and ophthalmology residents in addition to research activities.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive clinical and surgical care focused on cornea and external disease, including high-risk grafts, limbal stem cell transplantation, and keratoprosthesis.

Contribute to the Wilmer Cornea Service with a joint appointment in the Division of Ocular Immunology to address ocular surface disorders and immune mediated corneal conditions.

Engage in teaching of fellows and ophthalmology residents; participate in scholarly activities and clinical research.

Collaborate in basic, clinical, and translational research initiatives and contribute to program development within Wilmer.

Potentially allocate clinical effort at one of the Wilmer practice locations as needed.

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited ophthalmology residency and be certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology or board eligible.

Applicants must have completed a fellowship in cornea and external disease.

Training in ocular immunology and post-fellowship work experience are preferred.

Faculty rank is determined by experience and credentials.
