The South Central Kansas Library System (SCKLS) seeks an organizational leader to support its member libraries in providing excellent service to their communities. The SCKLS membership includes a diverse community of 144-member public, school district, academic, special libraries in 12 counties. SCKLS supports member libraries through its grant programs, technology services and other specialized assistance including continuing education, consulting, youth and school, interlibrary loan and rotating collections services. SCKLS operates with a $4.17 million budget and employs a staff of 13.625 FTE. Ninety-six percent of SCKLS of member libraries surveyed in 2023 approved of the grants and services SCKLS provides to fulfill its mission. The Associate Director will work for a period of 6 – 12 months with the Director to develop a working knowledge of the SCKLS annual audit, plan and budget processes, performance outcome measures and grants-in-aid program administration. Upon the Associate Director’s successful completion of the 6 – 12 month training period and the Director’s planned retirement as of January 1, 2027, the Executive Committee will appoint the Associate Director as Director.
