Director of Business Development – Electric Power Sector
We are seeking a
Director of Business Development
to expand our presence with
large power/utility companies in Florida . This role will focus on establishing and growing relationships with clients, while also maintaining existing accounts with regional providers. The Director will lead sales strategy, proposals, and client engagement efforts to secure major electrical infrastructure projects across the state.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities in the
electrical power construction sector .
Build and maintain strong client relationships with investor-owned utilities, EMC firms, and large-scale developers.
Develop strategic account plans to grow market share with Florida’s largest utilities.
Lead proposal, RFP, and presentation development for new project opportunities.
Collaborate with estimating, operations, and engineering teams during pre-construction.
Represent the company at trade shows, networking events, and client meetings across Florida.
Track market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform sales strategy.
Manage CRM pipeline reporting, forecasting, and sales performance metrics.
Negotiate contracts and ensure seamless handoff to project execution teams.
Qualifications
Required:
7+ years of experience in
business development/sales within electrical construction or utility infrastructure .
Demonstrated success selling to
large power companies
(e.g., Florida Power & Light, Duke Energy).
Strong understanding of
transmission, distribution, and substation projects .
Proven ability to generate leads, develop relationships, and close multimillion-dollar contracts.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to travel extensively throughout Florida.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
Preferred:
Experience in
data center sector sales
or mission-critical infrastructure.
Established executive relationships within major Florida utilities.
Salesforce or other CRM expertise.

$150K base salary + lucrative commission plan (20–40%) + annual bonus.
