Chief Medical Officer Location: Chicago, IL

Job Summary:

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the senior clinical leader responsible for ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care across all clinical services.

The CMO will be employed by One Health Partners, a management services organization (MSO), which provides financial and operational support to affiliated community health clinics and specialty practices. The CMO may be assigned to one or more community health centers where he or she may serve as a key clinical leader providing strategic and operational leadership for medical providers associated with that health center.

The CMO drives quality improvement, ensures compliance with clinical standards, and partners with executive leadership to integrate clinical goals with organizational strategy. This role plays a critical part in advancing health equity, patient safety, and clinical excellence in a community-based care setting. The CMO ensures that medical strategies and practices support One Health’s mission of delivering high-quality, accessible care to underserved populations.

Key Responsibilities: Provide clinical leadership and oversight of all medical services, including primary care, behavioral health, and specialty services for affiliated health centers and specialty practices Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate medical providers to ensure clinical quality and professional development Lead the development and implementation of clinical protocols, quality standards, and performance improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with HRSA clinical requirements, Joint Commission (if applicable), and other accreditation or regulatory standards Collaborate with operations leadership to optimize care delivery models, team-based care, and patient experience Oversee clinical quality metrics, peer review, and risk management programs Lead population health and chronic disease management strategies Partner with IT to optimize EHR usage and clinical documentation practices Represent the clinical voice in executive and Board-level discussions

Qualification & Requirements: 7–10+ years of clinical experience, with at least 3–5 years in clinical leadership (preferably in an FQHC or safety-net setting) Board certification in a primary care specialty (e.g., family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics) Proven track record in quality improvement, provider engagement, and patient safety Strong knowledge of HRSA clinical compliance, UDS reporting, and PCMH models Experience working with underserved populations and a commitment to health equity Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills Ability to balance clinical excellence with operational realities in a resource-conscious environment
