DOI is seeking a Human Resources professional to serve as a Junior Human Resources Generalist. This role supports the HR team in managing recruitment, onboarding, personnel evaluation tracking, benefits coordination, and other HR functions under the guidance of the Deputy Director of Human Resources. Responsibilities include preparing confidential reports from NYC personnel databases (CHRMS and PMS), conducting exit interviews, and assisting with HR-related events and initiatives. Maintain and update vacancy reports and tracking systems related to recruitment and retention; use NYCAPS to create job openings and source candidates; liaise with colleges and professional associations; identify external posting sites. Administer civil service hiring pools, ensuring compliance with civil service rules and timely list actions. Conduct new-hire orientations and coordinate with hiring managers for smooth onboarding. Provide information on employment policies and benefits to employees. Participate in department initiatives and events. Implement personnel actions for various employee statuses using City HRIS systems such as NYCAPS, PMS, PRISE, and CHRMS. Generate reports from City HRIS systems. Respond promptly to employee concerns and inquiries. If selected, candidates will undergo fingerprinting and a background check. To Apply

Baccalaureate degree and two years of related community work experience; or High school diploma and six years of related experience; or Equivalent education/experience with at least one year of relevant experience. Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s Degree and at least two years of HR experience in NYC government. Familiarity with orientation and HR processes. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Proficiency in MS Office and City HRIS systems (CHRMS, NYCAPS, PMS). Knowledge of NYC’s Civil Service processes and systems.
