Position Overview: The Field Superintendent must be motivated, willing to lead and instruct others, and work collaboratively in a team environment. This role involves routine interaction and communication with managers, clients, suppliers, and team members.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan and supervise activities, including determining construction methods, sequencing, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules.
Train and manage other field staff.
Manage daily activities of multiple mid-sized projects through assigned Electrical Foremen.
Assist in creating and maintaining project schedules, monitor critical path dates, and review milestones.
Communicate site issues, conflicts, schedules, and quality concerns effectively to the Project Manager and owner.
Resolve field construction problems.
Maintain open communication with subcontractors to ensure availability of materials, inspections, etc., supporting project activities and schedules.
Monitor safety compliance among field staff and subcontractors, conduct safety inspections, and ensure corrective actions.
Assist Safety Department with incident and accident investigations.
Understand subcontractors’ scopes, ensure schedule adherence, and meet quality standards.
Support Project Manager with subcontractor disputes, quality control, and schedule coordination.
Coordinate with the Project Manager and owner’s representatives to ensure work complies with drawings and specs.
Assist in negotiations of claims and changes.
Provide input on cost and schedule forecasts.
Assist with Change Order reviews.
Ensure timely project close-out and punch list completion.
Mentor Project Associates assigned to the project.
Position Requirements:
Minimum of three years’ experience as an Electrical Superintendent or Electrical General Foreman on construction projects.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
Experience in mid-sized tenant build-outs and commercial renovations is preferred.
Effective communication skills.
Knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and supervising small to mid-sized teams.
Good organization, multi-tasking, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
Basic computer skills are preferred.
