Description As a Design Automation Engineer, you will work closely with our Packaging Process Owners and the BU layout teams to help maintain and develop design automation tools that improve efficiency and accuracy of RF power amplifier design and layout. This position requires extensive knowledge of the Cadence SKILL programming language and familiarity with the Cadence APD/Allegro/SIP design layout tools. The primary responsibility will be to develop Design Rule Checks (DRC) that ensure quality of laminate tapeouts. In addition, developing and maintaining documentation routines while working with our plant in Mexicali and our overseas laminate vendors will help communicate timely work instructions, further streamlining workflows across the company. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting software issues, verifying design data, documenting best practices, writing scripts, and leading beta testing groups.
Responsibilities
Developing Design Rule Checks (DRC) that ensure quality of laminate tapeouts
Develop and maintain documentation routines for our internal and external partners
Develop design tools that automate the creation of footprint symbols and routing features
Troubleshooting software issues with custom programs as well as APD installations
Documenting and communicating best practices
Training users how to use our custom automation tools
Leading beta testing groups across design centers to get feedback on automation
Knowledge of the semiconductor industry including fab and assembly processes
Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills
Required Experience And Skills
BS in Computer Science required with 2 years of experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Extensive knowledge of Windows 10/11
Some knowledge of Unix environment
Proficiency in layout tools, preferably Cadence Allegro/APD/SIP
Extensive experience with the Cadence SKILL programming language
Experience in design automation programming
Knowledge of the semiconductor industry including fab and assembly processes
Excellent communication, organization and documentation skills
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $76,100 - $138,900 per year.
