The Engineering Services Department comprises five sections: Capital Management, Environmental Programs, Land Development, Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Utility, and Transportation, with a total of 41 staff members in various roles. Since its early days, the City has been known as the 'City with a Plan,' creating a World Class Community over the past forty years. Engineering plays a vital role in this vision, focusing on more than just roads—it's about shaping the environment where our community lives and thrives. Our work includes high-quality design and construction, environmental sustainability, and reliable utility services. The Position
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Engineering Services, the Principal Engineer oversees Capital Management, leading a team of six staff members, including Associate and Assistant Engineers. The role is part of the Department's Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making. The Principal Engineer will manage the Capital Team directly and may serve as Acting Deputy Director in their absence. Capital Management
This section handles the City’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), including designing, constructing, and upgrading public infrastructure such as streets, storm drains, railroad crossings, and facilities. It also manages funding programs like Measure I, State Gas Tax, and grants. Your Impact & Notable Projects
Etiwanda Grade Separation : A $75 million project to improve rail crossing safety and efficiency. West Foothill Boulevard Improvements : Complete streets project with walk/bike paths and street realignment. Pavement Management System Update : City-wide assessment to enhance pavement conditions. Transportation Planning : Implementing Active Transportation and Roadway Safety Plans. Heritage Park Bridge Replacement : Replacing multiple bridges into one multi-modal structure. Ideal Candidate
