Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Facility: Compssion Care

Classification: Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Division: Adolescent Treatment Program

Location: Dayton, Ohio

Reports to: Nursing Supervisor, Executive Director Date: February 7th, 2025

Summary/Objective:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role is responsible for delivering quality nursing care to residents through interpersonal contact to ensure residents needs are met. The LPN will work with the treatment team to provide a consistent therapeutic milieu for patients. Prior experience with administering medication, psychiatric care, residential/inpatient/hospital experience. The LPN plays a direct role in saving our residents' lives each day by serving them in a safe environment promoting a successful treatment experience.

Essential Functions:

1. Resident Assessment and Monitoring
- Conduct thorough evaluations of residents’ conditions throughout their stay. - Continuously observe and assess patients to ensure active participation in

treatments and monitor their milieu.

2. Medication and Treatment Administration
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, monitoring their effectiveness

and adjusting care as needed.
3. Resident Education and Support

- Educate residents on managing behavioral issues and promoting healthy lifestyles. - Lead and facilitate therapeutic groups, offering emotional support and comfort.

4. Direct Care and Supervision
- Provide direct care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse under supervision of

Clinical Director.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working and therapeutic environment in accordance

with facility policies.

5. Communication and Documentation
- Communicate effectively with the treatment team to ensure cohesive and quality

care.
- Monitor and record residents' mental health status, noting any significant changes. - Maintain thorough and accurate records in electronic databases and written logs.

6. Behavioral Support and Crisis Intervention
- Assist residents with daily living activities and teach co-regulation and de-escalation

skills.
- Implement behavior support techniques and crisis interventions as needed.

7. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all procedures and treatments comply with healthcare regulations and

OHMAS safety standards.
- Be prepared to safely restrain aggressive or violent residents if necessary, following

agency policy.

8. Team Collaboration and Advocacy
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal resident

outcomes.
- Act as an advocate for residents, ensuring their needs and preferences are

respected.

Competency (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

- Demonstrates adherence to confidentiality standards, HIPAA, and legal regulations. - Crisis management, and relationship-building skills with both teammates and residents.
- Displays excellent organizational and time management abilities.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Record systems.

Required Education and Experience:

- Education: Must have completed an accredited Practical Nursing program. - Licensure: Active LPN license registered with the Ohio Board of Nursing.

- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health setting, preferably within a residential facility.
- Skills: Strong communication, patient advocacy, and crisis intervention skills.

- Active CPR Certification.
